Scarelt Letter In the novel the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne a major theme that is addressed is revenge. The main diverge is between the characters Reverend Dimmsedale and Roger Chillingsworth. The problem that surrounds them is that Dimmsedale have a unaffixed birth with Hester Prynne resulting in a baby girl, what is weird is that Chillingsworth comes into township the day that Hester is sentenced for public humiliation.
